CAMPBELLTON, January 22, 2025 – The Chairman and Mayors of the Restigouche Regional Service Commission (RSC) met with provincial elected officials.

During this meeting, the mayors engaged in discussions with Gilles LePage, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, responsible for the Regional Development Corporation and MLA for Restigouche-West, as well as Guy Arseneault, MLA for Restigouche-East, on key issues affecting the region. This discussion takes place within the context of the Liberal government's arrival in power last fall.

Brad Mann, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Restigouche RSC, emphasized the importance of maintaining a dialogue with local MLAs to share the challenges and opportunities facing the region. Topics addressed included, among others, the financial framework for municipalities, healthcare services, the Northern Energy Alliance, road infrastructure, and cellular coverage.

Following this meeting, Aaron Kennedy, Minister of Local Government, and senior officials from his department joined the discussion.

Minister Kennedy’s visit was warmly welcomed by Brad Mann, who stated, "It is always a pleasure to welcome a minister to our region, especially for a meeting with our members. It allows him to see the synergy that exists within the board on regional issues." He added that the discussions were productive, covering crucial topics such as the challenges faced by municipalities and the RSC.

This meeting marked the first official opportunity for dialogue with the Liberal representatives since their election in October 2024.
